Job summary

City of Perth Amboy seeks experienced Building and Fire Subcode Officials for part-time or full-time positions. Under the direction of the Construction Official, perform plan reviews, inspections, and code enforcement in accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and local regulations.

Candidates must hold a valid NJ HHS Building and/or Fire Subcode License and a valid NJ driver’s license. Strong written and oral communication, plus computer proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid NJ HHS Building and/or Fire Subcode License required.
• Valid NJ driver's license in good standing.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Computer proficiency required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform plan reviews, inspections, and code enforcement per UCC and state/local regulations.
• Work with residents, contractors, design professionals, and developers.
• Provide responsive customer service in a fast-paced municipal environment.
• Collaborate with City departments and the public.
