City of Perth Amboy seeks experienced Building and Fire Subcode Officials for part-time or full-time positions. Under the direction of the Construction Official, perform plan reviews, inspections, and code enforcement in accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and local regulations.
Candidates must hold a valid NJ HHS Building and/or Fire Subcode License and a valid NJ driver’s license. Strong written and oral communication, plus computer proficiency are essential.
Is seeking experienced and customer-focused professionals to serve as Building and/or Fire Subcode Officials on either a part-time or full-time basis. Under the direction of the Construction Official, the successful candidate(s) will perform plan reviews, inspections, and code enforcement in accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, applicable State regulations, and local municipal ordinances, among other related duties. Candidates will work closely with residents, contractors, design professionals, and developers while providing responsive, professional customer service in a fast-paced municipal environment. Valid New Jersey HHS Building and/or Fire Subcode License issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and a valid NJ driver's license in good standing are required. Strong technical knowledge of the Uniform Construction Code and applicable regulations are essential. Applicants must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be comfortable with the public and in a busy office atmosphere. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining productive working relationships with coworkers, other City departments, contractors, and the public. Computer proficiency is required. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus. The salary range is $30-$55/hour for part-time and $66,086 - $85,911 for full-time, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
