Is seeking an experienced, customer-focused professional to serve as its next Construction Official. This full-time leadership opportunity is available due to a pending retirement and offers the chance to lead one of the City’s busiest departments while helping shape the continued growth and redevelopment of one of New Jersey’s most historic and vibrant communities. The Construction Official serves as the administrative head of the Construction Department and is responsible for directing daily operations, administering, and enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, applicable State regulations, and local municipal ordinances. The successful candidate will effectively oversee permitting, inspections, plan review, and the direct supervision of subcode officials, inspectors, and office staff, among other related duties. Operating in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, this proactive leader will ensure efficient, professional, and responsive customer service. The ability to establish productive working relationships with employees, officials, contractors, design professionals, developers, and the public is essential to the role’s success. Qualifications: A valid NJ Construction Official License issued by the NJDCA and at least one valid HHS Subcode License, preferably in Building and/or Fire. NJ Driver’s License in good standing. Computer proficiency: SDL and Edmunds, Microsoft Outlook Suite. Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory/administrative leadership experience in a high-functioning building department. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented leaser who promotes teamwork, accountability, embraces innovation, promote accountability, professionalism and excellent customer service. Salary range is $101,806 to $126,989, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional compensation may be considered for candidates possessing and utilizing multiple HHS subcode licenses.
