Union League of Philadelphia is seeking a Building Engineer in Philadelphia, PA 19102. The role requires operating and maintaining building mechanical and electrical systems to ensure safety, economy, and comfort.

The schedule is 4:00pm - 12:30am, Tuesday through Saturday, with a strong emphasis on problem solving, preventative maintenance, and coordination with contractors. The candidate should have at least 3 years of HVAC/refrigeration experience, the ability to read blueprints, and good

Qualifications

• 3+ years of practical experience in HVAC or refrigeration system operation and maintenance.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
• Good oral and written communication.
• Ability to handle diverse situations with initiative in a self-directed environment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must stand or walk for majority of shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate, adjust, regulate, maintain and troubleshoot building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Check operation of boilers, chillers, air handlers, water pumps, fan coils, heat pumps and adjust as needed.
• Inspect interior and exterior lighting, repair or replace as needed.
• Check refrigeration equipment and record temperatures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Monitor energy management systems and adjust for occupancy comfort and energy efficiency.
• Respond to emergencies and seasonal events such as snow removal.
• Coordinate with outside contractors for warranty and preventive maintenance work.
• Order materials and maintain inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
