Job summary

JLL is hiring a Building Engineer 1 for Columbus, OH. The role focuses on operating and maintaining critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, to ensure safe, efficient facility operations.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, and support senior engineers while working the second shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM). This position is on-site and requires U.S. citizenship for government contracts.

Qualifications

• Requires U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license for site access and travel between sites.
• High School diploma or GED with two years of trades schooling in electrical/HVAC technologies.
• Universal Technician Certification for CFC refrigerant handling.
• 1+ years' experience in commercial/industrial maintenance involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems.
• Experience with CMMS, PM software, and BAS with RTU performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC systems; diagnose malfunctions and restore functionality.
• Analyze system performance using BAS, blueprints, schematics, and readings to identify root causes.
• Execute preventive maintenance for HVACR, chillers, and related systems.
• Troubleshoot to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability.
• Maintain electrical systems including power distribution and lighting with safety standards.
• Install/repair/maintain plumbing, doors, gates, and fire safety systems as needed.
• Perform start-up procedures for fire pumps, boilers, elevators, and compressors; assist in miscellaneous repairs.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop skills across building systems.
