Qualifications

Responsibilities

Building Engineer | Stamford, CT | Commercial Properties

We're seeking a hands-on, proactive Building Engineer to oversee day-to-day operations at two commercial buildings in Norwalk, CT (within walking distance of each other). You'll be the key point of contact for mechanical systems, tenant needs, and vendor coordination - ensuring the properties are running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily operations of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, elevator, and roofing systems.
• Diagnose and perform repairs; esc
• Supervise and mentor facilities staff and collaborate with a technician already on-site.
• Respond promptly to tenant and management requests with a professional, solution-focused attitude.
• Support CAPEX projects and work closely with senior management.
• Maintain service logs, manage vendor contracts, and assist with budget tracking.
• Coordinate snow removal and emergency response plans.
• Utilize Rent Manager (mobile and desktop) and Excel for maintenance tracking, reporting, and usage comparisons (electricity, etc.).

Qualifications

• HVAC Certification - REQUIRED
• Minimum 5 years of commercial facilities experience.
• Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical work, and general maintenance.
• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities - especially helpful as the team scales.
• Able to articulate clearly, write effective emails and reports, and communicate across all levels.
• Familiarity with building management systems, energy-saving practices, and maintenance software.
