Job summary

Grand Traverse County is seeking a Building Plan Reviewer to ensure code compliance for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. You will review drawings, approve permits, and collaborate with architects and engineers during design development to ensure compliance with code requirements.

You will perform on-site inspections, prepare reports, and assist with questions related to construction laws and regulations. A valid MI driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic math.
• Basic knowledge of building trades with depth in at least one.
• Knowledge of local/state codes and enforcement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Enforces state/county codes for buildings in assigned areas.
• Reviews drawings and plans to ensure code compliance; approves permits.
• Reviews plans with architects/engineers during design phase for compliance.
• Conducts on-site inspections to verify adherence to plans and codes.
