Job summary

Grand Traverse County is seeking a Building Plan Reviewer to enforce state and county codes on commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. You will review drawings, approve permits, and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with codes.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (GED) with an apprenticeship or equivalent training and 4–6 years of related experience. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years experience in a related area.
• Requires valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial building plans for code compliance.
• Approve and issue permits.
• Inspect sites to ensure adherence to plans and codes.
• Meet with architects/engineers during design phase for compliance.
