Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 2 years of college in construction, planning, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in construction.
• Must be registered as Building Inspector/Plan Reviewer in Michigan within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections for active permits and enforce code compliance.
• Prepare field inspection reports and enter results electronically.
• Write building code violation notices and assess site compliance.
• Serve as public liaison for building codes and land use matters.
• Attend court hearings when necessary.
• Participate in state-mandated continuing education to maintain certification.
• Oversee permits for active demolitions and related actions.
• Review blueprints and site plans; communicate findings clearly.
