Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Home Based Field Inspector to inspect buildings for fire and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with local and international codes. The role involves travel to Commercial, Industrial, Residential, and Hospitality facilities and frequent interaction with building owners and managers.

The successful candidate will read codes, manuals, drawings, and specifications, maintain up-to-date knowledge of codes, and adhere to UL Solutions' Code of Conduct and security

Qualifications

• University Degree (Equivalent to Associates degree) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Fire Safety Engineering preferred.
• Related discipline plus generally five years’ experience as an inspector, building contractor, engineer or other building related trades.
• ICC Combo commercial Inspector certification and Certified Electrical Plans Examiner are preferred credentials.

Responsibilities

• Inspects buildings for fire and life safety and fire protection systems to determine compliance with local or international building codes.
• Travel to client sites to meet building owners and managers regarding codes, inspection procedures and other issues pertaining to code compliance programs. Respond to questions and requests for information.
• Follows up to verify that corrections of violations have been made and ensures ongoing compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards; review new codes and changes.
• Perform other duties as directed.
