Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking an inspector to evaluate commercial, industrial, residential, and hospitality buildings for fire and life safety. You will inspect fire suppression and detection systems, read codes and standards, and travel to sites to coordinate with owners and managers on compliance.

The role requires a university degree in engineering related to fire safety, plus five years’ inspection experience and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical, electrical or fire safety engineering preferred.
• Five years’ experience as inspector, building contractor or related trades.
• ICC Combo commercial inspector certification required.
• Certified electrical plans examiner desirable.
• Ability to interpret building codes and identify non-compliant installations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings for fire and life safety systems to ensure compliance with codes.
• Travel to sites and meet owners and managers to discuss codes and procedures.
• Document deviations and report findings using provided tools.
• Follow up to verify corrections; enforce compliance when needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of codes, standards, and evolving practices.
