Job summary

City of Altamonte Springs is seeking a seasoned Building Code Administrator to manage plan reviews, inspections, and code enforcement across building systems in a fast-paced municipal environment.

You will lead complex code compliance reviews, coordinate with multiple City departments, and mentor staff while ensuring ISO BCEGS standards and timely customer service. A relevant degree and active license are required, with opportunity for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licensure by the DBPR as Building Code Administrator or ability to obtain within 120 days.
• Valid driver license; obtain Florida license within 30 days.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage the City program for enforcement of the Florida Building Code, Fire Code, and related regulations.
• Review and approve building and site plans and participate in inspections for code compliance.
• Coordinate with City departments to ensure proper plan reviews and regulatory alignment.
• Conduct complex field inspections and meet with designers, contractors, and owners to ensure development goals are met.
• Provide staff training and assist inspectors in complex code and land development requirements.
• Oversee contract inspector scheduling and support policy development with the Fire Marshal and Department Director.
• Ensure customer service objectives and compliance with codes and standards across departments.
• Monitor and improve inspection/permitting software and related automated services.
• Represent the department in pre-construction meetings and code enforcement proceedings.
