Job summary

City of Easton is seeking a Chief Code Administrator to oversee building code administration, inspections, and enforcement within the Planning & Codes Department. The role leads staff, coordinates with emergency services, and ensures compliance with state and city codes.

The position requires strong supervisory experience, knowledge of codes, and ability to manage multiple complex objectives, including interaction with boards and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Progressively responsible experience in building construction, building inspection, code enforcement, or related fields; municipal and supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Building Code Official for the City under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.
• Assists with day-to-day administration of the Department, including inspections, enforcement, and administration.
• Supervises inspectors, code officers, and compliance personnel, including assignments and evaluations.
• Acts as senior technical resource for complex construction and code matters.
• Serves on the Historic District Commission and attends meetings as assigned.
• Responds to emergency calls and coordinates with Police, Fire, and Public Works as needed.
• Coordinates plan reviews and inspections for compliance with codes and city ordinances.
• Oversees permits, Certificates of Occupancy, inspection reports, and enforcement documentation.
• Maintains records in the city's permitting and code-enforcement systems.
• Engages community through code education and outreach on safety and compliance.
