Job summary

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma and at least four years in building construction inspection, including two years in enforcement work. Valid Hawaiʻi driver’s license required.

• Four years of experience in inspecting or supervising building construction, with two years in building code enforcement work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction, alteration, and maintenance of buildings and structures for compliance with codes.
• Issue stop-work orders when necessary.
• Investigate hazardous conditions and illegal alterations.
• Keep records of inspections and prepare reports.
• Review building permit applications and provide information on building laws.
