Building Automation Technician II

Location: Houston, TX

What will you do?

This position is responsible for learning how to understand project/service requirements such as specifications, standards, schedules, and safety. The employee participates in project/service activities on-site related to the coordination, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems. They report to the Construction Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Assist with control commissioning and startup of new control systems to ensure proper operation.
2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair control systems wiring, hardware, and software.
3. Diagnose communication problems with control devices and other components.
4. Create, load, test, and tune system databases.
5. Install, replace, and recommission control systems devices, equipment, and software.
6. Coordinate activities of subcontractors as required.
7. Provide on-site training to customers as needed.
8. Provide emergency and warranty services as required.
9. Create and maintain test records and as-built documentation.
10. Conform to project site safety and housekeeping requirements.
11. Assist and support in basic field startup using standard startup and checkout processes.
12. Assist senior technicians and project managers in maintaining as-built markups for field-directed changes to design documentation.
13. Assist project manager with material delivery, logistics, and LOT management, utilizing Design 360, Prometheus apps, and other engineering tools.

What qualifications will make you successful?

• 3-5 years of trade and/or relevant work experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Access, PowerPoint).
• Basic understanding of networks.
• Good conceptual aptitude.
• Interest or desire to pursue a career in Building Automation (HVAC and/or other building systems).
• Product or industry knowledge is highly desirable.
