Building Automation Technician II

Location: Houston, TX

What will you do?

This position is responsible for learning how to understand project/service requirements such as specifications, standards, schedules, and safety. You will participate in project/service activities on-site related to the coordination, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems. You will report to the Construction Manager.

Responsibilities Include

1. Assist with control commissioning and startup of new control systems to ensure proper operation.
2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair control systems wiring, hardware, and software.
3. Diagnose communication problems with control devices and other components.
4. Create, load, test, and tune system databases.
5. Install, replace, and recommission control systems devices, equipment, and software.
6. Coordinate activities of subcontractors as required.
7. Provide on-site training to customers as needed.
8. Provide emergency and warranty services as required.
9. Create and maintain test records and as-built documentation.
10. Conform to project site safety and housekeeping requirements.
11. Assist and support in basic field startup using standard startup and checkout processes.
12. Assist senior technicians and project managers in maintaining as-built markups for field-directed changes to design documentation.
13. Assist project manager with material delivery, logistics, and LOT management, utilizing Design 360, Prometheus apps, and other engineering tools.

What qualifications will make you successful?

• Three to five (3-5) years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Access, PowerPoint.
• Basic understanding of networks.
• Good conceptual aptitude.
• Interest in building automation, HVAC, or related systems.
• Product or industry knowledge is highly desired.
