Job summary

ModernControls, Inc. seeks a Building Automation System (BAS) Estimator to develop detailed cost estimates for plan & spec and design-build projects.

You will read plans, perform quantity takeoffs, select equipment, and prepare bid scopes while coordinating with sales, project management, engineering, subcontractors, and suppliers. The ideal candidate has a mechanical/construction management background, 2+ years in Controls/HVAC, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience reading construction plans, specs, and sequences of operation.
• Ability to develop complete digital takeoffs with labor, materials, and equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review invitations to bid, plans, and specs to analyze scope.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to inform estimates.
• Create cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor for renovations, retrofits, and new installations.
• Produce narratives for in-scope items, exclusions, and clarifications for proposals.
• Maintain unit pricing and cost databases; stay updated on market prices.
