Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel in Lexington, KY is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for BAS projects including new installations, retrofits, and system upgrades. You will review plans, specs, and customer requirements to develop comprehensive bids and proposals.

The role supports business development by maintaining strong relationships with mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, developers, and partners.

Qualifications

• 2 years of estimating experience in BAS, HVAC controls, or smart buildings.
• Associate's or equivalent in a technical field as listed in the qualifications.
• Experience reviewing project plans, specs, and customer requirements.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms, control sequences, and related systems.
• Knowledge of pricing, labor rates, and materials for commercial/industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed take-offs for BAS components and programming hours.
• Develop BOM, labor estimates, subcontractor quotes, and margins.
• Estimate costs for plan & spec, design-build, and performance contracts.
• Select appropriate control hardware/software in line with specs.
• Identify pricing opportunities and risks to improve competitiveness.
• Prepare proposals with scope narratives and pricing breakdowns.
• Maintain estimating databases and stay updated on BAS trends.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
