Job summary

The Salvation Army Albany Corps is seeking a part-time Facilities/Maintenance/Janitorial worker to help keep the Albany Corps building clean, safe, and welcoming for worship, programs, food distribution, and community services.

The role requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs., operate with a flexible schedule, pass a background check, and perform duties across restrooms, general cleaning, and light maintenance in all weather conditions. Training on safety and dress code is provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies, and empty trash.
• Sweep, mop floors, vacuum carpets, and maintain kitchen and chapel areas.
• Set up tables, chairs, and equipment for programs and events.
• Exterior grounds maintenance including sweeping walkways and trash pickup.
• Report hazards and maintain custodial supply inventory.

Scope of Position

This position supports the Corps Officers and the ministries of The Salvation Army Albany Corps by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for worship, programs, food distribution, and community services.

Corps Property Cleaning & Maintenance

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the Albany Corps building, including:

Restrooms

• Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors
• Restock supplies
• Empty trash

General Facility Cleaning

• Empty trash cans throughout the building
• Sweep and mop hard floors (lobby, fellowship hall, kitchen)
• Vacuum carpeted areas (chapel, offices, back room)
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness (counters, sinks, light appliance cleaning)
• Maintain chapel cleanliness (chairs, platform area)
• Assist in maintaining the pantry

Program & Event Support

• Set up tables, chairs, and equipment for programs, meetings, and events

Exterior Grounds Maintenance

• Sweep walkways
• Pick up trash
• Blow leaves
• Light pruning as needed
• Maintain entryways and sidewalks

Light Maintenance Duties

• Report hazards or needed repairs
• Maintain custodial supply inventory and request replacements

Other Duties as needed within the scope of the department.

May include:

• Assisting with deliveries
• Storage organization
• Furniture cleaning
• Clothing or product handling for ministry needs
• Supporting special events or seasonal programs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist
• Ability to grasp, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks

• This is a steady workplace that can include interruptions and shifting direction.
