Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Staff Analyst within the Performance Assessment and Budget Unit (PABU) of the Citywide Concrete Unit. The analyst will conduct cost analyses, audits, and performance assessments for sidewalk, ramp and related infrastructure programs, ensuring accurate budgeting and analyzes across multiple data sources.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree or equivalent experience in economics, finance, accounting or public administration or related field.
• Experience with budget administration, financial analysis, or program evaluation is preferred.
• Strong analytical and data management skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost estimates vs. actual expenditures analysis for Street Improvement Projects; identify variances and trends.
• Audit and review CHIPS spreadsheets for accuracy and proper cost allocation.
• Prepare analytical summaries, charts and reports to support decisions.
• Collaborate with budget personnel, project staff and stakeholders to validate information and improve processes.

Advanced Excel

Education

Master's degree in economics/finance/ accounting or related field

Bachelor's degree + 2 years professional experience in budget/finance/metrics

Associate degree + 4 years relevant experience

High school diploma + 6 years relevant experience

Combination of education and experience as per minimum requirements

Special Note: Eligible for Assignment Level II with 1 additional year experience
