Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Willingness to limit public activity to not give any appearance of bias in work.

Responsibilities

  • Research topics for legislators and provide written or verbal summaries to the member or staff.
  • Analyze bills for potential fiscal effects on state/local budgets and prepare fiscal notes.
  • Attend committee hearings, track bills, and update fiscal notes as needed.
  • Prepare analyses of agency operating budgets for the biennial budget process.
  • Follow assigned agencies through the budget process, including amendment drafting and research.
  • Draft appropriation and related language for legislation.
  • Create written resources for the General Assembly on topics of interest.
