Job summary

City of San Antonio is seeking a skilled lead grappler operator to perform and supervise brush collection tasks from public properties. Work occurs on city streets at two service centers with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

The role requires experience with heavy equipment, a valid Texas CDL, and the ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff while ensuring compliance with safety standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience operating light, medium and heavy equipment, including two years on a front end loader/bobcat.
• Valid Texas Commercial A Driver's License.
• Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew and assist supervisor in completing performance appraisals.
• Inspect grappler and complete inspection reports.
• Drive and operate grappler safely and in accordance with safety rules and traffic laws.
• Drive truck and trailer as needed.
• Provide direction to operators on safety procedures and routes to landfill/brush site.
• Ensure all brush and debris are collected in the assigned area.
• Perform routine operator maintenance on grappler as needed.
• Work with crew to separate metals and recyclables from brush.
