Job summary

City of San Antonio is seeking a skilled equipment operator to work under supervision, operating light to heavy equipment for excavation, loading, and material movement in parks, streets, and other public areas. Tasks include minor maintenance, debris removal, and assisting with traffic control and safety setups.

Candidate should have at least 1 year of equipment operation experience or completion of SA: Ready to Work CDL training, and must obtain a Texas Class B CDL within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write at a level necessary for job performance.
• Ability to learn and follow safety procedures and operating instructions.
• Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Operates a 10 cy or smaller dump trucks to/from work locations and sites.
• Performs minor maintenance and service checks on equipment.
• Performs unskilled and semi-skilled labor related to maintenance and construction tasks.
• May prepare a daily activity log.
• Cleans and removes debris from streets, parks, drainage, ditches, and City areas, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Removes brush and trash from drainage inlets.
• Transports tools and equipment to and from work sites.
• May assist in placing barricades, signs, flashers, and safety cones.
• Performs related duties as required.
