Job summary

NextDecade is seeking a Brownfield Projects Mechanical Engineer in Brownsville, Texas, to support the Rio Grande LNG facility. The role requires a strong mechanical background (vessels, piping, valves) and coordination of FEED/EPCC activities with Contractors and Vendors to ensure safety, on-time delivery and budget compliance.

You will report to the Sr Manager, Brownfield Projects, participate in reviews (HAZID/HAZOP/SIL/QRAs), manage site surveys, and drive KPIs for HSE, schedule and quality.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years as Brownfield Projects Engineer in the oil and gas industry (including SIMOPS and Turn Arounds).
• A Professional Engineering License or eligibility for registration.
• 15+ years in the oil and gas industry.
• 10+ years as a Project Engineer in the oil and gas industry (Green and/or Brownfield).
• 5+ years in Project or Operations in the LNG or refinery industries.

Responsibilities

• Ensure FEED/EPCC activities are executed safely, on schedule, on budget and in line with technical requirements.
• Coordinate technical clarifications with Contractors and Vendors.
• Participate in reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRAs) and action follow-up.
• HSE orientation training of Contractors and Vendors personnel working on the plant site.
• Handover of new facilities/equipment from Contractors to NEXTDECADE.
