Job summary

The Brooklyn Sign Shop Superintendent position at New York City Department of Transportation leads the production, installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control devices and markings across boroughs. You will supervise staff, coordinate with DOT crews and contractors, prepare reports, and ensure safety and efficiency in daily operations.

Responsibilities include overseeing SIMS usage, managing stockroom operations, and guiding field meetings to align with Vision Zero and Street

Qualifications

At least one year of experience as a Supervisor of Traffic Device Maintainers for NYC DOT or equivalent supervisory experience.
Four years of recent, satisfactory experience maintaining, servicing and repairing mechanical equipment, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

Oversee production, installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control devices and markings across boroughs.
Coordinate project implementation with DOT crews and DDC contractors; provide technical guidance to the Brooklyn Borough Engineer's Office.
Prepare daily indicator reports and monthly summaries; evaluate work orders and manage material requisitions.
Utilize SIMS to streamline traffic sign installations and supervise stockroom operations.
Schedule audits and field meetings; oversee attendance and ensure compliance with Borough Engineering SOPs.
Supervise two STDMs and ensure daily work assignments are properly executed.
