Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd. in the Bronx seeks an Outreach Worker Supervisor for Cure Violence Bronx to lead outreach teams and coordinate community-based violence prevention efforts.

You will supervise staff, plan actions in high-violence areas, and liaise with partners to deliver education and intervention activities. The role requires strong community ties, trauma-informed approach, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends in Jerome Avenue, Bronx.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of the Bronx 46th Precinct neighborhoods.
• Residence within the area strongly preferred.
• Experience in effective community outreach and mobilizing community efforts.
• Experience with at-risk and gang-involved youth.
• Excellent communication with staff, participants and community members.
• Proficiency with computers and basic office programs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid NYS driver’s license strongly preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish-English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Outreach Workers and approves data, planning daily/weekly activities for staff.
• Review shootings and other violent occurrences to plan immediate community response.
• Investigate causes of shootings to assist in mediating situations.
• Conduct outreach to build relationships with youth, residents, businesses, and community groups.
• Represent the program at community meetings and mobilize to develop anti-violence messaging.
• Organize and lead regular mobilization activities within the community.
• Assist in engaging, motivating, and coordinating volunteers.
• Develop and distribute public education materials (flyers, posters, stickers, social media).
• Work with community and law enforcement to gain information for violence prevention.
• Document work including shootings and risk notes in the DOHMH database.
• Identify at-risk youth and provide case management to prevent problems.
• Provide clients with support and linkages to community programs.
• Attend meetings with law enforcement and other agencies to coordinate efforts.
• Maintain participation in meetings coordinated by MOCJ/ONS, DOHMH, and GSS.
