Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd is seeking an Outreach Worker to engage with residents, staff, businesses, and community orgs in (Bronx 46th Precinct) to reduce shootings. You will coordinate mobilization, supervise staff, and foster partnerships with city programs, while maintaining detailed case notes and providing on-call support.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of the Bronx 46th Precinct neighborhoods and area dynamics.
• Residence within the target area strongly preferred.
• Experience with at-risk youth and gang involvement.
• Ability to communicate effectively with gang members and high-risk individuals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with databases and handheld devices for logging activities.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass drug screening and meet safety requirements.
• Criminal justice history preferred but not required under supervision.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, youth- and family-centered approaches.
• Bilingual Spanish-English is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of 10–15 participants.
• Conduct admission screenings for approval.
• Regular outreach with participants: 3 visits near home, 3 meetings, 8 calls monthly.
• Develop and track Risk Reduction Plans.
• Link participants to job training, GED/TASC, therapy, and other services.
• Lead advocacy and build networks with other outreach workers.
• Document detailed participant notes in prescribed databases.
• Intervene on the streets to establish trust and safety.
• Meet high-risk individuals daily to discuss problems.
• Mobilize community around violence reduction and education.
• Stay on call 24/7 as directed.
