Job summary

The Bachrach Group is seeking a Housing Compliance Specialist for a Bronx-based multifamily owner/operator. The role focuses on filing, recertifications, and hands-on administrative tasks to ensure program compliance under LIHTC, HOME, and Section 8.

Responsibilities include audits, preparing documentation, and coordinating with residents and external agencies to resolve compliance issues. Strong attention to detail and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with LIHTC, HOME, Section 8 programs and requirements.
• Proficient in maintaining compliance with housing regulations.
• Ability to perform file audits and produce accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review lease files and support documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Process applicant certifications, recertifications, interim recertifications, and renewals under affordable housing programs.
• Verify household eligibility, income, assets, student status, and program requirements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations, including Fair Housing.
• Monitor regulatory requirements to stay compliant with LIHTC and other programs.
• Conduct file audits and quality control to identify deficiencies and correct them.
• Prepare and maintain tenant files, compliance records, certifications, and supporting docs.
• Assist with agency audits, management reviews, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
• Research changes to affordable housing regulations and best practices.
• Communicate with residents, applicants, verifiers, and agencies to obtain documentation and resolve issues.
• Assist in preparing compliance and occupancy reports and submissions.
• Document and track findings and corrective actions to ensure timely resolution.
• Provide guidance to site staff on compliance procedures and docs.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and sensitive documentation.
