Job summary

Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. seeks a seasoned underwriting leader to direct the underwriting support staff in developing premiums, quotes, and policy maintenance for broker/specialty markets. You will guide rate, quote, issue, and maintain policies, while reporting to executive management and brokers.

The role emphasizes staff development, workload prioritization, and building broker relationships to meet corporate goals; travel to visit brokers and insureds is required as needed.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of property and casualty insurance-related experience with brokers or agents.
• Strong background in quoting and issuing large accounts (over $50,000 annual premium).
• Significant knowledge of the P&C industry from underwriting, claims, risk management, etc.
• Previous management experience is desirable.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but may consider comparable industry experience.
• A CPCU designation or continuing education in the insurance industry is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to underwriting support staff to develop premiums, prepare quotes, and issue/maintain policies.
• Rate, quote, issue, and maintain policies in compliance with underwriting policy and regulatory requirements.
• Provide policy information/special reports to executive management, brokers, insureds, and others.
• Establish priorities and adjust workloads to meet completion dates.
• Recruit, hire, train, appraise, and conduct salary administration for direct reporting staff.
• Coach staff in setting professional development goals and assist in broker/specialty underwriting goals.
• Travel as necessary to visit brokers and insureds to foster business relationships.
