Job summary

YMCA of Central New Mexico is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher in Albuquerque to provide a quality experience for children and families guided by the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

The role involves implementing curriculum, planning daily activities, supervising children, and engaging parents as volunteers. Candidates should meet state qualifications, be at least 18, and obtain CPR/First Aid/AED and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.
• At least 18 years old (minimum may be higher depending on state law).
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Must have 45 hour certificate.
• Attend higher education classes to keep knowledge current.

Responsibilities

• Implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintains communication with parents, and engages parents as volunteers.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
