Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for our Transportation Department in Glen Allen, VA. You will assist in the design and inspection of highway structures and gain hands-on experience across cutting-edge infrastructure projects.

The position starts Summer 2027 and offers exposure to CAD, calculations, and construction drawings while working with a hybrid in-office schedule in Glen Allen, VA.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and at least 1 year of study.
• Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree may apply if continuing with a Master’s.
• Completed courses in statics, strength of materials, introductory steel design, and introductory reinforced concrete design.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks applying standard techniques and criteria.
• Prepare engineering calculations and quantities takeoffs.
• Review shop drawings and assist in inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
• Prepare construction details using CAD software.
• Work under supervision of a project manager or senior team member.
