Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Bridge Engineer in Glen Allen, VA. You will work on concepts through detailed design for highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges, supporting construction phases and ensuring adherence to standards.

Start is planned for Spring/Summer 2027. Responsibilities include analysis, documentation, and collaboration with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, and traffic teams using MicroStation, AutoCAD, and related tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
Valid US Driver's License required; motor vehicle records review.

Responsibilities

Assist in structural analysis and design of highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges per standards.
Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, and documentation under senior engineer guidance.
Develop and revise bridge plans using MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenBridge or similar tools.
Support bridge load ratings, inspections, and condition assessments of existing structures.
Perform quantity calculations and assist with cost estimates for rehabilitation or replacement projects.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, and traffic engineers.
Participate in field inspections, data collection, and construction observation activities.
Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs during construction.
Assist with engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and alternatives evaluations.
Ensure design work complies with client requirements and codes; support project management tasks.
