Job summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Structural Bridge Engineer for our Roanoke, Virginia office. You will contribute to a range of design activities from concept through detailed design, supporting highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridge projects with guidance from senior engineers.

This role starts Spring/Summer 2027 and requires ABET-accredited BS in civil/structural engineering, a valid US driver's license, and the ability to travel periodically.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
• Valid US Driver's License and pass Motor Vehicle Records review.
• Master of Science with Structural Engineering concentration preferred.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Familiarity with AASHTO Codes and Bridge Engineering practices.
• Experience with computer analysis and design software (LEAP Bridge, STAAD.Pro, CSiBridge, MDX).
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenBridge, AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Assist in structural analysis and design of highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges per AASHTO, DOT, and local standards.
• Prepare calculations, design reports, and documentation under senior engineers.
• Develop and revise bridge plans and construction documents using design software.
• Support load ratings, inspections, and condition assessments for existing structures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in field inspections and data collection.
