Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks a Project Engineer on the Bridges & Structures team to support delivery of bridge and transportation structure projects across California. The role involves coordinating structural solutions from design through construction, with three regional openings in Northern, Central, and Southern California.

The candidate should have a minimum of 3+ years in bridge/structural engineering, a ABET-accredited Civil/Structural Engineering degree, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 3+ years of bridge and structural design experience.
• EIT certification highly preferred; PE licensure prioritized.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordination of bridge and structural engineering projects (highways, rail, bridges, retaining walls).
• Prepare structural design plans, details, calculations, and specs per Caltrans, AASHTO, local codes.
• Develop structural analysis and load rating calculations for new and existing bridges.
• Design foundations and substructures (piles, footings, abutments, piers).
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, estimates, and cost evaluations.
• Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, drainage, utilities, and construction teams.
