Job summary

BKF Engineers in California is seeking a Bridge & Structures CADD Designer / Drafter to produce clear construction plans for bridges and related structures, coordinating with bridge engineers and other disciplines to turn concepts, calculations, sketches, and review comments into coordinated plan sets and 3D models for Caltrans and local agencies.

You will develop sheet sets from roadway alignments and survey data, ensure compliance with Caltrans standards, and check drawings for completeness.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree or higher in drafting, CADD, civil engineering technology or closely related field.
• 5+ years of professional CADD experience, including substantial production of bridge or transportation structural plans.
• Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation and Autodesk AutoCAD; experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise bridge and structural plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules for preliminary design, PS&E, and construction.
• Develop sheet sets from roadway alignments, profiles, survey/base files, geotechnical data and markups; coordinate interfaces with multiple teams.
• Apply Caltrans and client CADD standards to file organization, layers, annotation, sheet layout and deliverables.
• Check drawings for completeness, consistency, and constructability; incorporate review comments and support quantity takeoffs.
• Create or contribute to 3D bridge/structural models and model-based views, sections, quantities, and presentation graphics.
• Maintain organized project files; coordinate drawing production, milestones and quality reviews; mentor junior drafters.
