Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. seeks a Bridge & Structures CADD Designer/Drafter to develop clear construction plans for bridges and transportation structures. You’ll translate concepts into coordinated plan sets and 3D models, working with bridge engineers and multiple disciplines for Caltrans and local agencies.

The role requires proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD, knowledge of transportation design tools, and strong detailing ability. Travel to BKF locations and client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in drafting/CADD, civil engineering tech, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional CADD experience producing bridge/transportation structural plans.
• Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD; experience with OpenRoads Designer and Civil 3D.
• Knowledge of bridge plan conventions and steel/concrete detailing; ability to interpret sketches and survey data.
• Experience producing coordinated plan sets to client/public agency standards, with attention to quality and deadlines.
• Clear communication and ability to work with licensed engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise bridge/structural plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules for design phases.
• Develop sheet sets from alignments, survey data, and discipline models; coordinate interfaces across teams.
• Apply Caltrans and client CADD standards for file organization, layers, annotations, and sheet layouts.
• Check drawings for completeness and constructability; incorporate review comments and support quantity takeoffs.
• Create or contribute to 3D bridge/structural models and model-based views as needed.
• Maintain organized project files and coordinate drawing production with engineers and other drafters.
