Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Bridge/Structural Engineer for our Transportation Design team in Nashville, TN to work on highway and pedestrian bridges and related structures from concept through final plans.

The ideal candidate has a Civil/Structural background, a Tennessee PE license, 4+ years of bridge experience, familiarity with LEAP Bridge, and software experience with Midas, CSiBridge, MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
• Tennessee Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 4+ years of bridge/structural engineering experience.
• Experience with LEAP Bridge.
• Strong understanding of AASHTO guidelines, construction specs, plans, and regulations.
• Experience developing or modifying MathCAD programs.

Responsibilities

• Design and support highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and transportation structures.
• Perform structural design calculations, investigative analysis, and finite element analysis.
• Perform bridge load-rating analyses and prepare load-rating reports.
• Participate in routine and complex bridge inspections.
• Prepare and review engineering reports, plans, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.
• Collect and analyze engineering data and assist with quantities and estimates.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, CADD staff, clients, review agencies, and other project stakeholders.
• Help solve complex design and coordination challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support projects from preliminary design through final plans and technical documentation.
• Manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and problem-solving.
