Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Bridge and Structural Engineer to support transportation projects through bridge and structural design, bridge preservation, load rating, plan development, and technical support for transportation infrastructure projects. This position is located in East Baton Rouge Parish.

It reports to the Engineer 7/Bridge Inspection Engineer and requires a current Louisiana Professional Engineer license with the indicated experience.

Qualifications

Current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering is required.
Two years of licensed engineering experience or six years of professional engineering experience.
Master's or doctorate degrees may substitute for experience as described.

Responsibilities

Assists with bridge and structural design activities for transportation infrastructure projects.
Reviews or prepares plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, and structural details.
Performs or assists with bridge load ratings, structural evaluations, or bridge preservation activities.
Provides technical support related to bridge rehabilitation, replacement, preservation, or new capacity projects.
Coordinates with project managers, consultants, districts, construction staff, and other internal or external partners.
Reviews bridge-related project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
Supports development or maintenance of design guidance, standards, procedures, or technical documents.
Assists with emergency response or technical reviews involving bridge or structural concerns.
