Job summary

MoDOT is seeking a bridge maintenance worker to perform routine and emergency repairs on bridges within the state highway system, under general supervision. The role includes painting, deck work, and traffic control to safeguard drivers and workers.

Responsibilities cover structural repairs, preventative maintenance, and operation of vehicles to move materials. A strong emphasis on physical stamina and safety adherence is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET is required.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL Class B with tanker endorsement required; pass tests within 60 days of hire.
• Annual cardiopulmonary function test, respirator training, and respirator fit test every six months.
• Successful completion of a work simulation and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency repairs to bridges, including concrete and structural steel work.
• Paint structural steel bridges and prepare surfaces for coatings using spray equipment.
• Assist in preventative maintenance for bridges in the state highway system.
• Set up traffic control devices and manage traffic flow in work zones.
• Operate vehicles and equipment to transport materials and crew; perform vehicle maintenance.
