Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in Kansas City, MO is seeking a bridge maintenance worker to perform maintenance and repair on bridges in the state highway system under general supervision.

You will conduct routine and emergency repairs, paint and seal bridge components, assist in preventative maintenance, set up traffic control, and operate vehicles to transport materials as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Passing grade on written CDL exam prior to hire; tanker endorsement, Class B, interstate status within 60 days.
• CPR/medical tests including respirator training and fit test required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and emergency bridge repairs (concrete, structural steel); paints and seals bridge caps; performs deck repair and replacement.
• Paints structural steel bridges; sets up scaffolding, prepares surfaces, applies paint with conventional or airless sprayers.
• Assists in preventative maintenance of bridges in the state highway system.
• Sets up traffic control devices (signs, cones, flags) and flags traffic for work zones.
• Operates vehicles and equipment to transport materials and crew; performs vehicle/equipment preventative maintenance.
