This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineer to work on projects with our Structures Bridge Design Team in our New England offices, including Boston and Worcester, MA/ Providence, RI/ Merrimack, NH and Glastonbury, CT.

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with our Bridge/Highway Design Team on project development and design tasks.
• Perform structural engineering work and inspections.
• Assist in preparing Bridge Load Ratings.
• Participate in Bridge Inspections as part of a team.
• Assist in developing plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
• Work independently or with a multidisciplinary team on multiple projects.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
• Support various engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Contribute to project research, fieldwork, preliminary design calculations, and analysis.
• Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Maintain project documentation.
• Stay current with the latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies, exercising responsible decision-making.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in bridge inspection, design, or related work.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
• Interest in structures and transportation engineering.
• Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and lead junior team members.
• Proficiency in technical writing, Microsoft Office, and engineering software.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies.
• Flexibility to work beyond regular hours and occasional travel.

Preferred:

• Enrollment in an accredited Civil Engineering or related graduate program.
• Professional licensure or certification.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Active participation in professional organizations.
