Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Engineer-In-Training certification required or equivalent substitutions listed by federal regulations.
• Professional Engineer licensure may substitute for some requirements.
• Qualified candidates must meet NBIS and safety training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Act as Bridge Inspection Team Leader and perform structure inspections per AASHTO guidelines and department policies.
• Prepare for inspections by reviewing plans and inspection records; ensure equipment readiness for all team members.
• Maintain safety for inspection teams and the public; enforce safety procedures for inspections over water and railways.
• Review plans, inspection records, rating reports, and dive/maintenance records pertinent to bridges, tunnels, or facilities.
• Document deficiencies and prepare inspection reports using approved templates and data systems.
• Complete other duties as required.
