Job summary

GFT is seeking a Bridge Engineer – Inspection to join our Roadway practice in the Washington DC / Fairfax area. This on-site role requires regular attendance at client offices (Carmen E. Turner Facility, Landover, MD).

You will perform quality control reviews of structural inspection reports and witness field inspections to verify WMATA standards. The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree with a structural emphasis, experience QCing inspections of bridges and transit structures, and

Qualifications

• BA in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Experience QC inspections for bridges, tunnels and transit structures.
• Experience with destructive and non-destructive testing methods; familiar with D‑Meter and Dye Penetrant testing.
• Strong communication and coordination for field inspection teams.
• PE with FHWA Bridge Inspection certs; EIT with FHWA certs.

Responsibilities

• Review field inspection reports and QC to WMATA standards.
• Witness field inspections and report to GFT Task Manager.
• Develop and maintain WMATA Structures Inspection Manual knowledge.
• Prepare technical reports to prioritize maintenance and renewal activities.
• Support improvements to QC processes.
