The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to join the Office of Highways and Intermodal Project Implementation in Springfield. You will perform detailed bridge inspections under NBIS guidelines, operate inspection equipment, and document findings to support load ratings and repairs.

This union position offers a hybrid work arrangement (2–5 days in the office), a starting salary of $5,082 monthly with a full range to $10,054 monthly, and comprehensive

Formación

• Two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or related plus five years of engineering experience OR seven years of engineering experience.

Responsabilidades

• Performs technical duties including instrument operation and precise measurements; records observations during detailed inspections of major bridges statewide.
• Serves as NBIS Team Leader in the absence of the Bridge Inspection Group Technician.
• Performs visual inspections of bridges using nondestructive testing equipment; records deficiencies and recommends repair or analysis.
• Prepares detailed bridge inspection reports.
• Operates a variety of bridge inspection equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
