Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a civil engineering intern to support bridge inspection and design with hands-on tasks, site visits, and documentation preparation. You will assist senior engineers and attend team meetings while developing practical skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.

The position emphasizes learning of department standards, collaboration with architects and engineers, and gaining experience across programming, schematic design, modeling, and construction phases.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Pursuing ABET-accredited undergrad in civil engineering with interest in bridge/transportation structures.
• Familiarity with design and production software.
• Coursework in a related field
• Previous internship or relevant work experience

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic design tasks, including research and layout support.
• Assist with field inspections of in-service structures and documentation.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, and construction phases.
• Support creation of presentation and marketing materials.
• Assist with site visits, RFI responses, and updating record drawings.
• Follow established quality control procedures and learn department standards.
