Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking an engineering intern to support the bridge inspection and design department. The role provides practical experience through assisting with project tasks, field inspections, and documentation, under supervision.

Full-time student pursuing an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in bridge or transportation structures; immigration sponsorship is not available except for TN visa eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Full-time student pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in bridge or transportation structures.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior or lead team with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support.
• Assist with field inspections of in-service structures and related documentation.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases.
• Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials.
• Assist with construction phase activities, including site visits, RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and updating record drawings.
• Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed.
• Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices.
• Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members.
