Job summary

RailWorks is seeking a Craft Foreman to direct work groups on active railway properties and through construction zones. You will apply railway operating rules to ensure contractor clearance before train approaches, minimizing delays in operations.

The role requires 4+ years in the railway field, and involves setup of signals, site safety briefings, and coordination with supervisors and controllers. This on-site position may involve travel, overtime, and variable shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years related railway industry experience.
• Experience with timber bridge repair preferred.
• Track Inspection Guidelines certification is an asset.
• Ability to read and understand schedules, standards, plans and specifications.
• Able to work in a safety sensitive position directing work groups on live railway corridors.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and railway safety regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient use of computers and tablets.

Responsibilities

• Embrace safety culture and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Conduct daily job briefings so contractors understand site instructions.
• Review the site daily with Supervisor/contractors’ representative for hazards.
• Set up, reposition, and dismantle railway signals at designated locations.
• Communicate effectively with the work group and Rail Traffic Controllers on instructions and hazards.
• Operate company vehicles and perform daily maintenance and inspections.
• Perform special duties as assigned by the Capital Supervisor.
• Handle administrative duties related to documentation per Quality Management System.
