Job summary

TxDOT’s Bridge Division seeks Engineering Interns for the Austin, TX area. Interns will gain hands‑on experience across bridge engineering and asset management, working alongside seasoned professionals.

The program requires enrollment in an accredited engineering or related science degree. Duties include data collection, drafting, inspection support, and document preparation. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour week internship with a focus on safety and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
• Assist in transportation engineering support work such as construction or maintenance inspection, structural construction or maintenance, laboratory work, landscaping, surveying or engineering data collection.

Responsibilities

• Develops spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents.
• Gathers basic data and assists with routine statistical analysis.
• Performs data entry and computer‑aided analysis.
• Prepares required worksheets and inspection reports.
• Processes various construction‑related documents and maintains construction project records.
• Uses drafting equipment and performs hand or computer‑aided drafting and calculating work.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
