Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Tempe, Arizona, is seeking a Technical Director, Bridge Engineer to lead our transportation team on major public infrastructure projects.

You will provide SME leadership for asset management, rehabilitation, and new design across public-sector programs. You will mentor engineers, supervise design activities from concept to construction, ensure compliance with regulations, and drive innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 12+ years of post-education experience in structural/civil and infrastructure design.
• Engineer license required; multi-state reciprocity preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with structural engineering principles, design/build, and permitting.
• Advanced proficiency with bridge design.
• Strong knowledge of construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and enforce QA/QC in teams and projects.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills; ability to interface with stakeholders.
• Proficiency with discipline-specific design software and tools.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts on bridge projects and manage mid-level engineers and drafters.
• Supervise design activities from concept through construction and budgeting.
• Apply advanced engineering techniques to improve infrastructure project phases.
• Coordinate with district structures management teams and external agencies.
• Mentor staff to support growth and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal codes and company policies.
• Provide trusted advisory services and innovative bridge solutions.
