Job summary

Stantec in Laurel, MD, is seeking Structural Bridge Engineers / Inspectors with bridge design and inspection experience. You will work on design components for roadway and bridge projects across Maryland, Virginia, and DC, and assist with bridge inspections and report writing.

The role offers opportunities to grow toward team leadership or project management on design tasks, with travel within the MD/VA/DC area and a focus on safety and resilience in infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of bridge inspection experience; bridge design experience a plus.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• MD/VA/DC bridge experience preferred and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Bridge design and inspection projects for DOTs and municipalities in MD, VA, DC; rail projects possible.
• Prepare design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and cost estimates; assist PM with provisions.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs under senior engineer guidance.
• Evaluate existing structures and develop load ratings.
• Prepare engineering reports and conduct technical studies; assist roadway/site design.
• Perform bridge inspections and write inspection reports.
